Day 7: Sunday Back-to-School Prep for a Stress-Free Week

Sunday is the perfect day to prepare for the week ahead.

A little preparation can make Monday morning feel completely different.

Sunday Checklist

☐ Check the school calendar
☐ Review homework
☐ Wash school clothes
☐ Pick out outfits
☐ Prepare lunches
☐ Restock snacks
☐ Clean backpacks
☐ Charge electronics
☐ Check school supplies
☐ Plan meals
☐ Set bedtime

Plan Outfits for the Week

Let your child choose their clothes for the week.

Place each outfit together so they’re ready to grab each morning.

This can eliminate the:

“MOM! I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!”

conversation at 6:45 a.m.

Prepare Lunches

If possible, prepare some lunch items ahead of time.

Wash fruit, portion snacks, and organize lunch containers.

Look at the Calendar

Take a few minutes to look at everything happening that week.

Are there:

• School events?
• Tests?
• Field trips?
• Sports practices?
• Appointments?
• Early dismissal days?

Knowing what’s coming can prevent last-minute surprises.

Get Everyone to Bed on Time

Sunday night isn’t the night for staying up until midnight watching movies.

Give everyone enough time to relax and get a good night’s sleep.

End the Weekend With Encouragement

Before your child goes to bed, remind them:

“You are ready.”

“You are capable.”

“You are loved.”

“Tomorrow is a new day.”

Back-to-school season can be busy, but it can also be exciting.

Take pictures. Celebrate the little moments. Hug your kids a little tighter.

Because one day, you’ll look back and realize how quickly these school years went by.
