Book Review

This book was a really interesting psychological thriller that kept me guessing about who Connie could trust. Connie is part of a famous YouTube family, but unlike her family, she is beginning to miss the normal life she had before all the attention. Her family’s obsession with creating content makes her feel like her personal life and safety are not always important to them.

The story becomes intense when Connie’s mother and sister leave town to visit colleges, leaving Connie home alone. At first, Connie is excited to have some time to herself, but that excitement quickly disappears when strange things begin happening. Someone is stalking her, and girls who look like Connie are being murdered. When Ellie, one of Connie’s friends, falls down the stairs and later dies from her injuries, the situation becomes even more frightening. Harmony, another girl, had also died a few weeks earlier.

What frustrated me the most was Connie’s family’s reaction when she tried to tell them what was happening. Instead of taking her concerns seriously, her mother was more focused on their trip and keeping their fans happy. I felt bad for Connie because she was clearly scared and needed her family, but she felt like she had to handle everything on her own. Her boyfriend wanted to help her, but Connie kept secrets from him, which caused more problems between them.

The biggest surprise for me was finding out that Connie’s female best friend and her boyfriend were actually responsible for the murders. They had been killing girls who looked like Connie, which made the entire situation much more disturbing. I also thought the sheriff’s involvement was a shocking twist. Finding out that she knew her son was a murderer but chose to protect him instead of turning him in made the story even darker.

Overall, I enjoyed this book because it had plenty of suspense, secrets, and unexpected twists. I liked how the author explored the negative side of being famous on social media and how being constantly watched can affect someone’s life. At times, Connie’s decisions frustrated me because she did not always tell the people trying to help her everything she knew. However, I could also understand why she struggled to trust people after everything that happened.

The ending definitely caught me off guard. Just when I thought the truth was finally coming out, the sheriff’s plan to make Connie look like the problem created another dangerous situation. I was left wanting to know what happens to Connie next. Overall, I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy psychological thrillers, murder mysteries, stalking stories, and books with unexpected twists and cliffhanger endings.

Happy Reading 💕
