Book Review

This book was definitely a wild ride from beginning to end! There were so many twists, secrets, and unexpected moments that kept me turning the pages. Harper’s story was filled with danger, family drama, betrayal, and a whole lot of chaos.
One thing I will say about Harper is that she was hard-headed throughout the entire book! There were so many times when I wanted to yell at her to listen to the people around her and take better precautions. After being attacked and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, you would think she would slow down and be more careful. Instead, she continued making decisions that put herself in even more danger. I understood that she wanted answers, but some of her choices had me frustrated.
The mystery surrounding Harper’s attacker kept me guessing. Knight believed Harper might be harming herself again, especially because Harper left out important details about what had happened to her. Eventually, we discover that Elias was behind the attacks, and the revelation that he had been after Harper since she was little made everything even crazier. Harper even stopped taking her medication because she wanted her imaginary stalker to return, which was another decision that had me shaking my head.
Then there was Mae! Mae had me completely speechless. Finding out that she was pregnant, lied about losing the baby, and eventually kidnapped her own grandchildren just to lure Harper into Elias’s trap was unbelievable. And then she shot Izzy! Her actions were definitely some of the most shocking parts of the story. I was glad to see Mae arrested because she had crossed way too many lines.
I also enjoyed the drama surrounding Izzy, Diesel, and Ace. Diesel and Ace both having feelings for Izzy definitely added another layer to the story. After everything Izzy went through, I was happy to see her finally get together with Diesel and Ace.
The ending had plenty of action. Harper shooting Elias in the leg, Elias pressing charges, and then eventually dropping them was another unexpected turn. Elias ultimately getting blown up on the cargo ship brought his storyline to a dramatic conclusion.
One of my favorite parts was Harper deciding to raise her sister as her own. Despite all the chaos surrounding her, that decision showed a more caring and protective side of Harper.
Overall, I enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing and there was never a dull moment. Some of Harper’s decisions definitely frustrated me, and there were moments when I wanted her to simply listen and think things through. However, the suspense, family secrets, betrayals, and unexpected twists kept me invested. The story was messy, dramatic, and full of surprises, which honestly made it hard to put down.
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5
It definitely had me saying, “Harper, PLEASE make better decisions!” 😂 But I still had to keep reading to see what happened next!
Happy Reading 💕
