Hey friends,
Day 5: Back-to-School Organization Tips for Kids
A new school year is the perfect time to teach kids how to become more organized.
Organization doesn’t have to mean having a perfectly clean room or color-coded everything.
It simply means helping kids know where their things are and what they need to do.
Create a Backpack System
Teach your child to clean out their backpack every afternoon.
Create three categories:
Keep: Things they need for school.
Home: Papers, homework, and items that belong at home.
Trash: Wrappers, old papers, broken pencils, and other clutter.
Use a Homework Station
Create a designated place for homework.
It doesn’t have to be a fancy desk.
A small table, kitchen counter, or corner of their bedroom can work.
Keep basic supplies nearby:
- Pencils
- Paper
- Calculator
- Ruler
- Highlighters
- Glue
- Scissors
Use a Weekly Calendar
Write down important events:
📚 Tests
📝 Assignments
⚽ Sports
🎨 Activities
🎂 Birthdays
📅 School events
Let your child help maintain the calendar.
Pack the Night Before
Make packing the backpack part of the nighttime routine.
Before bed, check:
☐ Homework completed
☐ Books packed
☐ Folder packed
☐ Lunch ready
☐ Water bottle ready
☐ Clothes laid out
Mom Tip
Organization is a skill.
Kids aren’t automatically born knowing how to manage time, belongings, and responsibilities.
Teach them, practice with them, and give them room to improve.
Happy Back-to-School Season from My Life As A Mom! 💕📚🎒
