Hey Friends and Happy Saturday,
I will discuss Book One in this blog. If you haven’t read it yet and plan to, “DO NOT READ” this blog.
The books I will be discussing are ‘The Perfect Marriage’ by Jeneva Rose.

Overview:
I will start with the first book, ‘The Perfect Marriage.’ This book surprised me so much that I wanted to know more. Sarah is a top criminal lawyer and, at 35, she became a partner in her firm, living the life she dreamed of. Her husband, Adam, is an unsuccessful author who feels jealous of her success. For the last two years, he has been cheating on her.
My Review:
As they approach their ten-year anniversary, Adam plans to celebrate at their lake house. Sarah agrees they need some time alone, but her plans change when she has an important case on Monday. She texts Adam to apologize and promises to make it up to him. Deep down, Adam knows she might not come. After Sarah’s cancellation, he invites his mistress, Kelly, to the lake house.
Adam and Kelly spend the night together, both feeling overlooked by their partners. The next morning, Adam wakes up to a car door slamming. Thinking it might be Sarah, he looks outside but sees no one. He realizes he needs to stop his affair and reconcile with his wife. Although he loves Sarah, he also has feelings for Kelly. He writes a note for Kelly, saying that he loves her but has to end their relationship, and tells her that the maid will be there in the morning.
When Adam gets home and steps out of the shower, he hears a knock at the door. It’s the police. He is shocked and worries that something has happened to Sarah. The police ask him questions like, “Where were you the last 24 hours?” When he tells them he was at the lake house, they become aggressive and arrest him without explaining why. At the station, they ask about Kelly. Adam explains that he was having an affair, unaware that the maid found Kelly dead when she arrived to clean the lake house.
When Sarah found out her husband was arrested, it was through her mother-in-law after she got out of court. I don’t know how Sarah could defend her husband after he had cheated on her for that long, but I give her props for finding out about all of the things that he did when they were not together.
The mother-in-law got on my nerves, thinking that she was more than her daughter-in-law. She always thought that Sarah was not good for her son and always had something mean to say. I was so glad that Sarah told her off when it came to even though part of me felt like she deserved a slap after she put her hand on Sarah.
Throughout the whole book, Adam was making me mad with one bad decision after another. Instead of sitting and letting his wife do her job (which I still think, why would she defend him in court after what he did to her is mind-blowing), he just made the case against him even worse for him. By escaping house arrest, running from jail, and so many other unforgettable scenes in the book.
Sheriff Stevens was no better in this story; he wanted a quick verdict and the case to be closed without doing the proper investigation. He was sloppy at his job, only had his eyes on one person, and that was Adam, and the case needed to be closed in a short amount of time. He made sure that the case was only surrounded by one person and that the focus was not on him due to the fact that we were also sleeping with the victim.
Kelly was a not an innocent person even though it was unfortuate that she got killed the way that she did. Having an affair with a married man while still married herself as well married to cop was a risky move. Not only did they find three DNA in her system her husband, Adam, and Sheriff Stevens. Not only were she having relations with each one, but she also was pregnant. Kelly real name was Jenna, she was charge with killing her husband. After the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence she fled the state and change her name.
The ending to me was the best part of the book cause I did not see it coming. Sarah had everything planned from the beginning. She wanted a divorce from Adam, but Adam would not give it to her so instead she stayed married to him after his conviction. In the eleven years that Adam was being bars waiting to be executed, Sarah moved on and started dating Bob and had a daughter with him. Sarah went to visited Adam on the day he was getting executed and told him at the very end that she knew that he didn’t do while the whole time she was the one that killed Kelly aka Jenna, and made Adam fall for the murder. She watch Adam get exucted for the crime that she committed and got married the next day to her new lover.
If you’ve read The Perfect Marriage, what did you think?
