Hey friends,
There’s something about Mondays that can feel disproportionately weighty. Maybe it’s the abrupt end to rest, the long list of expectations waiting at your feet, or just the quiet pressure of starting again. Whatever the reason, Monday has a reputation, and for many people, it earns it.
But here’s a quieter truth worth holding onto: if today feels heavy, it’s not because you’re weak. It’s because you’re aware. And more importantly, it’s not the heaviest thing you’ve ever carried.
You’ve handled uncertainty before. You’ve made it through days where nothing felt clear, weeks where motivation was nowhere to be found, and moments that asked more of you than you thought you could give. Those weren’t hypothetical challenges; they were real, and you moved through them. Maybe not perfectly, maybe not gracefully, but you did.
That matters.
We tend to underestimate our own resilience because we normalize it. The hard days fade into the background, and what remains is the assumption that this current moment is somehow too much. But it isn’t new territory. It just feels new because you’re in it right now.
Mondays, in particular, have a way of amplifying that feeling. They ask for momentum when you might still feel still. They expect clarity when your mind is just warming up. And they often come with a subtle narrative: you should be ready.
But readiness isn’t a prerequisite for moving forward. Sometimes, showing up is enough. Sometimes, taking one small step into the day, answering one email, starting one task, getting out the door- is the win.
You don’t need to conquer the entire week today. You don’t need to feel unstoppable or inspired. You just need to remember that you’ve done hard things before, and this is not an exception; it’s a continuation.
So if Monday feels heavy, don’t fight the weight as if it’s unfamiliar. Recognize it. Adjust your pace if you need to. And remind yourself: this isn’t the first time you’ve carried something like this.
And it won’t be the last time you carry it forward, either.
