Hey Friends,

Welcome to my May Garden series where I will be sharing with you tips and tricks on how I keep my garden in good shape. I will discuss the type of fertilizer that I used, soil, and my water cycle throughout the week. Today, I will be discussing basil and all the type of basil that I have in garden as well what you can buy from your garden center.

Did you know that basil is part of the mint family?

Well, it is with its aromatic leaves sweet basil is very wildly grown as a kitchen herb. You can do a lot of things with basil like making sauces, using it as a herb fresh or dried, making drinks, using it as table decor, and more. There are different types of basil

  • Chef Trio
  • Cinnamon
  • Licorice
  • Lemon
  • Sweet Basil
  • Basil

Each basil has a different distinct taste when it comes to using them in recipes. Basil has an oval shape leaf that is shiny that is different from other herbs. I describe some of the basil that I have in my garden are sweet basil, purple basil, and large basil. I went to my local nursery yesterday and couldn’t find the cinnamon basil, so I will be taking another trip to another nursery to see if I can find one this weekend.

Origin – India, Pakistan, Iran, Thailand and other countries are known for basil

When to Grow? – You can plant basil after the last frost date.

How much to water? I typically water mine every day early in the morning, but it also depends on the climate and where you stay.

Let me know in the comment section what you use basil for?

Happy Gardening!!!
